Women Rights
Women in Pakistan often seem struggling to find their rightful status in the society. Though increasing education and enlightenment has brought some respite, yet the backwardness in many respects is so well entrenched that it would still take long to achieve semblance of equality or equity - provided one walks in the right direction and with the right resources. Interestingly, we intend to focus on areas where others are not working on – at least, as yet. For instance, we were in the forefront lobbying actively against the perception that has taken roots in our society that only fair colour is a better colour in women . Thankfully, sanity has prevailed at least in one case where a leading cosmetics company has changed the name of its well-known skin whitening cream lately and has replaced the word ‘fair’ with ‘glow’. And it is just a beginning; more needs to be done. The Nexus would continue to keep an eye on issues pertaining to our womenfolk and where others would falter, we would take a
step forward.
